BT Engage IT scooped a top prize at an inaugural industry awards ceremony organised by IT technology retailer dabs.com.
The Dabs Diamond Awards 2008, held at the Palace Hotel in Manchester, recognised manufacturers which have excelled themselves in the past year. About 350 guests attended.
The categories included best manufacturer of laptops/PCs and a range of other products, best service provider, best overall distributor and most outstanding account manager.
The manufacturers were judged by the general public after weeks of online voting on dabs.com’s website, with BT people also able to cast votes.
BT Engage IT, part of BT Retail, was awarded the title of best service provider.
Other winners included Sony, which was voted best manufacturer of laptops and PCs and also won in the component manufacturer category; and HP, best printer manufacturer.
BT Engage IT managing director Nick Gorringe said they were delighted to receive the award.
"It demonstrates the progress we have made since the merger of BT Engage IT into what is now one of the most comprehensive IT services organisations in the UK," he said.
"We look forward to continuing to exceed our customer expectations and delivering the full range of BT solutions to support their business goals."
Dabs commercial director David Gould said the awards were special because customers had voted according to their knowledge and experience of all the key players in each category, including IT services.
"Not only do these awards give tremendous recognition to each winner, they also provide provides dabs with invaluable information about our customers’ preferences which can improve our service to them," he said.
"Congratulations to all the winners and we look forward to announcing details of next year’s event soon."
